The Coril 150 initiative is not only about celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary, it is also about uniting the Coril Group of Companies. Whether you live in Minnesota, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, or anywhere in-between, we want to build a stronger community together and encourage connectivity.

As you gather over the next week to celebrate both Canada Day and Independence Day, we encourage you to take a moment and reflect on the larger community that you are part of, both as a citizen and as a member of the Coril Group of Companies.

Sharing updates and events company-wide isn’t a new idea. In November 1952, The Mannix Story (renamed The Loram Story in 1975) premiered as the “No Name News and Safety Bulletin of Mannix Ltd.” The magazine, which had no photos, was comprised of 20 mimeographed pages of safety announcements, accident reports, job updates and jokes.

Although the first issues of The Mannix Story were plain by today’s standards, the magazine’s intent was worth far more than any glossy, professional magazine.

”It may be well, in the first issue of this publication to bear the new name, to tell you why it is being published,” wrote F.C. Mannix in the February 1953 issue. “In it, we are not so concerned with the amount of machinery we own, but with the people who run it; we are not so concerned with the jobs we are doing as with the people who are doing them. Naturally, we are proud of the work that has been entrusted to us, we are proud of our record performance — but the primary purpose of this magazine is to knit all of us a little more closely together….We want all of us to share in the magazine this way. The Mannix Story is published by Mannix Ltd. in the interests of its personnel and friends.”
