My family has very strong Canadian roots – our family business has always been “for Canada”, ensuring that there is a great place for the next generation to grow up in.

In 2014, my grandfather & grandmother, Bruce & Gail Blacktopp, had a 25 tones Inukshuk built at the entrance way to our 250 acre peat moss farm north of Toronto, in Zephyr, Ontario.

To them and to our family, “the lake”, as it is affectionately known, is home. My grandparents have taught us that family is the greatest gift and they wanted a place for us to always gather. To feel like home. So one day, when they aren’t sitting on the dock awaiting our arrival – we will know they are there in spirit.

As a mother, I try to instill that into my son. Each summer, when we visit the lake; he and I get a photo taken. For now, I pick him up and have the photo taken; but one day, I know he will be standing beside me. He will know about tradition, family and most importantly, coming home.

The Coril Group of Companies reminds me of home and of a family. Caring about one another, trying to leave it better than we found it and truly belonging. There is nothing more Canadian than making someone feel like home!

“true north, strong and free”
